Lo que ofrezco viene de mi experiencia en la traducci�n de contratos a un abogado dedicado a asuntos internacionales, venta de maquinarias (bienes muebles) a M�xico, etc., los t�rminos, bastante literales, son los que usamos entre M�xico y EE.UU.

I agree with Marian BUT I would add non-real estate property for BUENES inmeubles because for the in-house guy to understand the thing, he needs to know that it is NOT real estate..also, RETENTION OF TITLE is a SET TERM with contracts: SEE GOOGLE!

If you have to be more literal, go with "Purchase and Sale Agreement with Retention of Ownership", but at least here in U.S., "Conditional Purchase and Sale Agreement" is a lot better....

"Purchase and Sale" Agreement or Contract is not incorrect, you may use it. "Reservation of Ownership" is much better. You would say "Contract of Sale", but "Sales Contract". Now don't ask me why...

Another thing... But now my boss wants us to go with a more literal translation. I understand that "Purchase" is unnecessary, but he wants the word in. How does "Purchase and Sale Agreement with Ownership Withheld" sound to you?

As Henry and Jane said, compraventa is generally translated as Sale, and sometimes purchase. purchase/sale agreement is not common in English.

compraventa is SALES or SALE or PURCHASE agreement..we DO NOT use both words in the English..if one person is SELLING the other is PURCHASING so it is ALWAYS implied...always IN ENGLISH..cheers

Normalmente, Tere, "Compraventa" se traduce "Sale" o "Sales", pues decir Purchase/Sale en ingl�s est� de m�s. O una "Compraventa" = "Sales Transaction", etc.

I think NON- REAL estate property [AKA personal property or chattels] is important in the title...After all, one can LEASE LAND..right?

disagree Carl Stoll : "Hire-purchase" is a British term that means a purchase paid for in installments. Such transactions usually involve a seller's lien, so title is indeed withheld as a rule. But title can be withheld even if full payment is made.
