The Nickel / Titanium alloy flexible probe of XXX has been designed in such a way that it will not break under normal conditions. Should a probe break in the proximal region, however, the tip should be clasped with a surgical clamp and extracted from the endoscope. If this happens in the distal region the entire endoscope including the broken probe must be removed. The broken component may first have to be grasped with forceps and then removed together with the endoscope under continual visual control.
