Thank you, Fuad.
Fuad Yahya Apr 7, 2005:
A committee reporter's job typically involves other tasks besides taking minutes. The same applies to . While taking minutes in a meeting, he is the "minutes taker" for that meeting, but his job title encompasses more than that.
Non-ProZ.com Apr 7, 2005:
Thank you everyone for your input. I have done more research and here is the conclusion: A committee reporter is not necessarily one who takes the minutes. Taking the minutes can be PART of the work. "Minutes Taker or Recorder" are perfectly correct in spite of what Fuad said. The only reservation about RECORDER id its possible confusion with a recording machine. Otherwise, it is a perfectly acceptable term to use.
Fuad Yahya Apr 7, 2005:
A person whose sole function is to take minutes is called "minutes taker." The expression is not a job title. It is used with reference to a meeting, not a committee. There is no such thing as "minutes recorder," except a tape recorder.
Stephen Franke Apr 6, 2005:
Agree with this, or just use the term "recorder" (implcitly of the proceedings and decisions of the commitee))
Non-ProZ.com Apr 6, 2005:
What about Committee Minutes' Recorder?
