This is the name of a river flowing into Qinghai Lake. While most rivers flow eastward, this one flows westward, hence it's called 倒淌河 (A river that runs backward).
*Daotanghe River* might suffice, but I'd like to choose a name which indicates *a river that runs backward*

"backstream"好像有些说 “水是倒着流向上游”，但这里显然只是“反向流”，那么是否“counterstream"好一些， 如果 "stream"在某种程度上考虑为动词。

那么，从文成公主来说，就是“柔肠寸段”之河，“思乡”河；对于龙王的女儿来说，就是聪慧的结果，总之就是一条“女儿河”，但两个故事有“很无奈”的感觉。应该是一个美丽但稍微有些凄切的名字。至于“倒淌”在名字里似乎不是很重要了。

How about "a backward river" or simply "Daotanghe River (a river that runs backward)", or "Daotanghe River (a river that runs in the opposite direction)?
