English term

it is now

English to Chinese Tech/Engineering IT (Information Technology) AI
There has been much discussion about the “black box” problem of neural networks. Sophisticated models can perform well on predictive workloads, but when it comes to backtracking how the system came to its end result, there is no clear way to understand what went right or wrong—or how the model turned on itself to arrive a conclusion.

For old-school machine learning models, this was not quite the problem it is now with non-linear, hidden data structures and countless parameters.

根据现有的证据,应该是说the old-school machine learning models 用上了"linear, unhidden data structures and limited parameters“,正因为如此,the old-school machine learning models才面临了问题。
jarv95888 Apr 18, 2017:
From textual analysis, it can be inferred that the old-school machine learning models are very likely to have "linear, unhidden data structures and limited parameters.
jyuan_us Apr 18, 2017:
问题是 “with non-linear, hidden data structures and countless parameters” 这也是对于老式机器学习模型而言的,否则,“with non-linear, hidden data structures and countless parameters” 就应该是和old-school machine learning model并列的,这两组短语能并列吗?
jarv95888 Apr 17, 2017:
He was not quite the person (that) he is now.
jarv95888 Apr 17, 2017:
This was not quite the problem that it is now.

1. For...., this was not the problem.
2. It is the problem with....
clearwater (asker) Apr 17, 2017:
@Jarv95888:请注意原文this was not quite the problem中的quite。
clearwater (asker) Apr 17, 2017:
@Jane:
JaneWJH Apr 17, 2017:

For old-school machine learning models, this was not a big problem but now it is a problem with non-linear, hidden data structures and countless parameters.

clearwater (asker) Apr 17, 2017:
For old-school machine learning models, this was not quite the problem it is now with non-linear, hidden data structures and countless parameters.
For old-school machine learning models, this was not quite the problem; it is now with non-linear, hidden data structures and countless parameters.
jyuan_us Apr 17, 2017:
@jarv95888 Thank you!
jarv95888 Apr 17, 2017:
Agree with Jyuan. For this, I have to say I agree with Jyuan, though I'm reserved about the "as" part that he suggests.
The bottom line is that it was not a problem in the past, but it is now. If you say "这问题不大," that means there was such a problem or similar problems in the past.
clearwater (asker) Apr 13, 2017:
@Jane和Vivian:谢谢!
Vivian Du (PhD) Apr 13, 2017:
JaneWJH Apr 13, 2017:

FYI

首先,the problem it is now 应为the problem as it is now 之误。

其次,this was not quite the problem it is now 两者都是指对于老式机器学习模型而言,同样的模型,过去没有问题,现在出现了问题。
