For the second instance, "Erfolge" might work nicely (as it would, in fact, in the first instance, too).
... Einge Beobachter sind jedoch der Meinung, dass der gegenwärtige Konjunkturrückgang (Konjunkturabschwächung) in den USA diese Erfolge in Frage stellt.
