role playing

I'm not saying it's always this, but I just did a translation at the weekend where "cas pratique" was role playing. I know this because the backgrounds for each role were clearly laid out: you are Mr A, you work for company B as a sales mgr, and you are calling Miss X at company Y to ask about Z. That kind of thing.

3 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "Thanks a lot, I don't think I can actually translate it as role playing but it gives me a good idea of what they mean. As it is in a list of activities I will probably just put case studies and real-life scenarios."

case study (meaning similar things)
If different meanigs: theorectical basis of case evaluation (étude de cas) and case study (cas pratique)

Usually its the same. Case study (étude de cas) its a practical evaluation of a case (cas pratique) to relate with conceps of lectures.
If the expressions are used with different meanings case study will be the "case study" to the "cas pratique" and you should use perhaps something like "theorectical basis of case evaluation" to the "étude de cas"

Case studies in pulmonary, renal, and acid-base disorders
These case studies are provided to give you practice dealing with some of the topics that were discussed in Dr. Harrison's lecture on Acid-Base and Electrolyte Balance, and also to give you practice with some related concepts from the pulmonary section of the course.
Each case contains a clinical presentation followed by evaluative studies eventually leading to a diagnosis. There are questions along the way for you to answer as you progress through the case. It would probably be best if you formulate your own answer to each question before you display the correct answer
