French term

dispositions

Non-PRO French to English Social Sciences Government / Politics Not-for-profit sector
I just want to be sure about the translation of 'provisions' in this sentence:

'Les dispositions liées à la reddition de compte contenues dans les règlements et les politiques qui guident les OSBL retiennent également de plus en plus l’attention.'

I'm assuming it means 'provisions' as in legal provisions, however, I'm not sure where 'dispositions' is better. Or is there an even better translation? I couldn't seem to confirm this one way or the other during research so any suggestions/comments would be welcome.

Many thanks,

Louise

Change log

Oct 7, 2013 13:24: NancyLynn changed "Term asked" from "provisions" to "dispositions"

Oct 8, 2013 10:37: Julie Barber changed "Level" from "PRO" to "Non-PRO"

Votes to reclassify question as PRO/non-PRO:

Non-PRO (3): Nikki Scott-Despaigne, AllegroTrans, Julie Barber

When entering new questions, KudoZ askers are given an opportunity* to classify the difficulty of their questions as 'easy' or 'pro'. If you feel a question marked 'easy' should actually be marked 'pro', and if you have earned more than 20 KudoZ points, you can click the "Vote PRO" button to recommend that change.

How to tell the difference between "easy" and "pro" questions:

An easy question is one that any bilingual person would be able to answer correctly. (Or in the case of monolingual questions, an easy question is one that any native speaker of the language would be able to answer correctly.)

A pro question is anything else... in other words, any question that requires knowledge or skills that are specialized (even slightly).

Another way to think of the difficulty levels is this: an easy question is one that deals with everyday conversation. A pro question is anything else.

When deciding between easy and pro, err on the side of pro. Most questions will be pro.

* Note: non-member askers are not given the option of entering 'pro' questions; the only way for their questions to be classified as 'pro' is for a ProZ.com member or members to re-classify it.

Discussion

Louise Etheridge (asker) Oct 7, 2013:
Thanks NancyLynn, I decided to repost as you're right, couldn't change. Hope I haven't caused everyone too much confusion...
NancyLynn Oct 7, 2013:
I've gone ahead and changed it for you, Louise, as I'm not sure if you can.
Louise Etheridge (asker) Oct 7, 2013:
Ah yes, thanks for pointing this out Carol, I will edit accordingly!
Carol Gullidge Oct 7, 2013:
wrong header term? I don't actually see "provisions" in the French text. Presumably you meant to put "dispositions"? However, for the sake of the Glossaries, you'd have to change the term in question, even if it is obvious what was intended!
