Da Italiano a Inglese Medico/Sanitario Medicina (generale)
Injuries to a patient involved in a rear-end collision:

Could someone please help with the phrase above, in particular the term "pregresso vs artefatto"?

La TC cerebrale urgente non mostrava segni acuti di significato vascolare ischemico o traumatico; segnalata piccola alterazione di segnale di significato gliotico pregresso vs artefatto.

thanks!

Joseph Tein Dec 19, 2023:
versus It's just the radiologist's way of seeing that this could be an earlier gliosis OR just an imaging artifact; we can't really tell. They use the word "versus" in these phrases to mean "as against" ... or really just "or."
See this discussion of "versus" here: https://www.aapc.com/discuss/threads/in-the-providers-notes-...

Thanks Fiona for your help. I still don't know exactly what it means so I've made a note to my client.
Fiona Grace Peterson Dec 14, 2023:
Versus or verosimile? The only things that come to mind are "verosimile" - (probable artifact, although this seems at odds with the preceding "consistent with gliosis") or "versus" (possible artifact?)
Hopefully some of our colleagues can shed more light!

I am at a loss as to why "pregresso" is in the text:)
Note from asker:
Thanks for your help. In the end I translated it more or less literally with a note to the client. Perhaps I'll get more feedback.

agree Joseph Tein : Ciao Liz! Yes, "pregresso" is previous / prior / past ... so they're saying that the condition might have been present before / prior to the accident (or ... it could be an artefact ... we don't really know).
