As there is no context, I can only do guesswork. So if this is an electricomechanical term, the translation may be "blade", meaning a cutting blade or inserted tooth for use in inserted-tooth cutters, as it is in Danish.

In everyday Norwegian the translation is knife, except in the case that Daphni explains above.

Assuming this is a verb (hard to know without the context, but the "-e" ending kinda suggests it), it depicts a one-to-one competition between rivals, be it professional or "romantic".
e.g. " guttene knives om hennes gunst", or "de to ansatte knives om opprykket".

I don't think it has anything to do with knives or blades as such, then the term would have been "kniv".
