bargaining

This seems to relate to Abraham's bargaining (targowanie się) with God over the fate of the inhabitants of Sodom and Gomorrah.

in PL "Abraham targuje się z panem Bogiem" / "targowanie się z Bogiem"

English references tend to refer to this passage with words including "pleading" "praying" "appealing" and bargaining. The way I see it, the whole passage can be seen as pleading but does contain specifically 'bargaining' i.e. where he argues God down from 50 to 10 innocent denizens being worth saving.

Depending on the context I would choose from 'bargaining', 'appealing', 'pleading' or even 'haggling' (somewhat out on a limb) favouring the prior unless somehow it didn't fit stylistically.
Example sentence:

The Man Who Bargained With God
