Nocao em barra

Medicina (geral)
Hi , this appears in a hospital discharge report, when describing the patient's present illness: "dor abdominal generalizada associada a fevre. Nocao em barra, na regiao do epigastrio".
My research on this has not returned anything plausible in this context, grateful for some help.
Many Thanks

Note from asker:
Thanks Liz, was really baffled by the term "nocao" but there is no ambiguity now around the meaning, most helpful. |

Boring upper abdominal pain
"Dor em barra" describes the pain associated with pancreatitis. I believe the expression refers to the quality of the patient´s pain (the "notion" that he has of it).
I don´t know if an equivalent term exists in English - the expression suggested came from the Professional MSD Manual.

Note from asker:
Thank you Fernando, I was baffled by the term "nocao", might refer like you say to the patient's perception of the pain. |
