Russian term

сбивать (конкурсы)

Russian to English Other Other
Создали номинационный комитет [для отбора руководителей госкомпаний], который сначала встретил сопротивление со стороны олигархов, потом судами сбивали разного вида конкурсы, и это все действовало и действовало.

I think "knocked together" i.e. "formed, created" makes better sense than "knocked down, pulled apart", but is this an acceptable sense of сбивать?

Discussion

Larisa Horback Feb 10, 2016:
скорее всего говорится о тендерах, незаконно выигранных.
Yakov Katsman Feb 10, 2016:
Здесь под "сбивали" возможно понимается "уничтожали, разрушали" -destroy, repeal, revoke, etc

Good point, thanks.
neutral Larisa Horback : I like legal dispute more as it sounds better :) and I don't like blocking as it sounds like physical force.

violated tenders in legal despute

If we talk about tenders (конкурсы), it would be better to use word dispute ; if we talk about court, it would be better to use word legal dispute.
so, the whole phrase I would translate like using legal disputes over dubious tenders.

VIOLATE COMPETITIONS
