Maybe it just seems like more sometimes. I've never actually measured it though. | | | Thayenga ألمانيا Local time: 14:45 عضو (2009) أنجليزي إلى ألماني + ...
My time in front of the computer depends on various factors. For one, the deadlines I have to meet. When they're approaching rapidly, then it could easily be 18 hours. Then there's the writing business. If there is no or little translation work, then the hours spend in front of the screen ccould amount to 20 hours. However, when this happens, then the next day, maybe two days are usually followed by email checks only, so I can catch up with life.... But... who measures time when the words flow easily? ▲ Collapse

sometimes more but I'm trying to ween myself off too much PC viewing as it's not good for your eyes, and going outside reminds you that there's a world out there too - so I'm trying to cut down a bit | | | There´s an option missing | Dec 10, 2011 |
namely, too many. Over the past few months I´ve spent well over 8 hours a day in front of the computer translating. But that has to change very soon, because like Patricia said, there´s a world out there. And there are lots of much more pleasant things to do in life. Have a good weekend everyone.
8 hours? Are you jocking? More, much more totally! Though I can't say that all this time I only translate. | | | You don't need to measure it... | Dec 10, 2011 |
neilmac wrote: I've never actually measured it though. I've been using the free version of Paymo for time tracking, and now they've come up with an add-on (also free), Paymo Plus... You turn it on when you start up your computer and oh my god, it shows you every single SECOND you've spent on the computer, and where, doing what. Useful for billing but more information than you probably ever want to know. For PC and Mac. http://www.paymo.biz/ And yes, I agree with Manuela. There's an option missing: WAY too many.

...and we're forgetting about the other screens that can consume time; mobile phones and televisions. Admittedly, I spend the majority of my life in front of a screen. A decade or two ago I would have said that was pretty sad. Today I would say it's normal. | | | I am amazed. | Dec 10, 2011 |
When I answered "5-8," I was thinking, "Ugh! That's way too much, even including work!," but the poll results show more people are on it for >8 hours. How have we come to this? | | | Michael Harris ألمانيا Local time: 14:45 عضو (2006) ألماني إلى أنجليزي
