Unomedical™ Gelling Fiber Dressing is a soft, sterile, nonwoven pad or ribbon dressing composed of sodium carboxymethylcellulose.
This conformable and highly absorbent dressing absorbs wound fluid and transforms into a soft gel, which maintains a moist environment to support the body’s healing process and aid in the removal of non-viable tissue from the wound (autolytic debridement), without damaging newly formed tissue.
INDICATIONS
Under the supervision of a health care professional Unomedical ™Gelling Fiber Dressing may be used for the management of:
- leg ulcers, pressure injuries (Stage II-IV) and diabetic ulcers.
- surgical wounds (e.g., post-operative, wounds left to heal by secondary intent and donor sites).
- partial thickness burns.
- traumatic wounds (e.g., abrasions and lacerations).
- exudate absorption in oncology wounds (e.g. fungating cutaneous tumours, cutaneous metastases and Kaposi's sarcomas).
PRECAUTIONS AND OBSERVATIONS
• Sterility is guaranteed unless the pouch is damaged or opened prior to use.
• This device is for single-use only and should not be re-used.
Re-use may lead to increased risk of infection or cross contamination.
Physical properties of the device may no longer be optimal for intended use.
• Appropriate supportive measures should be taken where indicated (e.g., use of graduated compression bandaging in the management of venous leg ulcers or pressure relief measures in the management of pressure ulcers/sores).
• The control of blood glucose, as well as appropriate supportive measures, should be provided with diabetic foot ulcers.
• Infection is not a contraindication to the use of Unomedical™ Gelling Fiber Dressing.
Should infection develop during the use of the dressing, antibiotic therapy should be initiated, as clinically indicated, by a health care professional.
• If removing the dressing is difficult, the dressing should be fully saturated with sterile saline or water and removed slowly.
• Because Unomedical™ Gelling Fiber Dressing provides a moist environment that supports the growth of new blood vessels, occasionally the delicate newly formed blood vessels may produce a blood stained wound fluid.

Bei der Unomedical™ Gelfaser-Wundauflage handelt es sich um eine weiche, sterile, nicht gewebte Kompresse oder Tamponade aus Natrium-Carboxymethylcellulose.
Diese angenehme und höchst absorbierende Wundauflage absorbiert Wundflüssigkeit und bildet daraus ein weiches Gel, welches für ein feuchtes Wundmilieu sorgt. Damit wird der Heilungsprozess des Körpers unterstützt und abgestorbenes Gewebe leichter aus der Wunde entfernt (autolytisches Débridement), ohne dabei das neu gebildete Gewebe zu beschädigen.
INDIKATIONEN
Die Unomedical™ Gelfaser-Wundauflage kann unter Aufsicht von medizinischem Fachpersonal zur Behandlung folgender Wunden eingesetzt werden:
- Unterschenkelgeschwüre, Druckschädigungen (Stadium II-IV) und diabetische Geschwüre
- Chirurgische Wunden (z. B. postoperative Wunden, sekundär heilende Wunden und Entnahmestellen)
- Verbrennungen zweiten Grades
- Traumatische Wunden (z. B. Abschürfungen und Schnittwunden)
- Absorption von Exsudat aus onkologischen Wunden (z. B. exulzerierende Hauttumore, Hautmetastasen und Kaposi-Sarkome)
VORSICHTSMASSNAHMEN UND HINWEISE
• Sterilität ist gewährleistet, solange die Verpackung nicht beschädigt oder zuvor geöffnet wurde.
• Die Wundauflage ist nur für den einmaligen Gebrauch bestimmt und nicht wiederzuverwenden.
Bei erneuter Verwendung besteht ein erhöhtes Risiko für Infektionen oder Kreuzkontaminationen.
Die für den Verwendungszweck vorgesehenen physikalischen Eigenschaften können dann nicht mehr optimal wirken.
• Falls indiziert, sind geeignete unterstützende Maßnahmen vorzunehmen (z. B. Verwendung von graduierten Kompressionsbandagen bei der Behandlung von venösen Beingeschwüren oder druckentlastende Maßnahmen bei der Behandlung von Druckgeschwüren bzw. -wunden).
• Blutzuckerkontrollen sowie geeignete unterstützende Maßnahmen sind bei der Behandlung von diabetischen Fußgeschwüren vorzusehen.
• Infektionen stellen keine Kontraindikation für die Verwendung der Unomedical™ Gelfaser-Wundauflage dar.
Kommt es während des Einsatzes der Wundauflage zu einer Infektion, sollte bei klinischer Indikation eine Behandlung mit Antibiotika vom Arzt verschrieben werden.
• Falls sich die Wundauflage nur schwer löst, diese mit steriler Kochsalzlösung oder Wasser vollständig durchtränken und langsam entfernen.
• Da die Unomedical™ Gelfaser-Wundauflage für eine feuchte, das Wachstum neuer Blutgefäße fördernde Umgebung sorgt, kann es durch die zarten, neu gebildeten Blutgefäße gelegentlich zu einer blutigen Einfärbung der Wundflüssigkeit kommen.
