Subtitling: 16 minutes/approx. 2,000 words. Chips and circuit boards for use in very specific applications, Made in France! Simplifying and shortening six transcriptions, very painstaking work adjusting time-codes, adding on-screen text to subtitles. Six corporate videos: Meaning, Trust, The Atmosphere, Technological Challenges, The Setting, General Summary. Aim: to get talents to apply for positions at the company in question. Very rewarding! Trademarks, 2,900 words, FR (Switzerland)-EN (UK), registration application documents. 1 user French (Morocco)-English (UK), 2,400 words, the fight against counterfeiting by the Moroccan customs authorities. A PowerPoint presentation, translated using the SDL Trados CAT (computer-assisted translation) tool. 1 user1 user Banking: compliance public communication document, 500 words. 1 user Dec. 2021 to May 2022. Taught myself subtitling on Subtitle Edit and by studying other subtitlers' work: on the shows Barry, We Own This City, and Silicon Valley, notably. Topics: the Olympic Games (an interview with an athlete), racism in football (interviews with various men's and womens' football players, amongst them two FIFA World Cup winners), animal rights & the environment (interview with Hugo Clément, a prominent French activist), etc. Volume: 6 hours, which entailed a great deal more work than it might seem. More details to follow. Six minutes of time-coding and subtitling work (approx. 600 words to be translated/adapted), French to English, for one of the GAFAM companies. Taught myself time-coding in one evening. Legal (company law)/finance (accounting), consulting services: content for the websites of two companies based in France. Accounting, VAT and excise duty, payroll, payroll insurance, secondment of employees to France, business domiciliation, etc. Not very exciting, but I cater to all my client's needs.

I have to admit that I quite like doing these small repetitive jobs, you can always tweak something translation-wise (working off a Kbis template, of course -- previously done work), you can always "play" with the lay-out, and then getting it right and producing a great-looking document is such a great satisfaction. It's a pity that the client didn't say thanks or even acknowledge receipt of my delivery, but you get very used to that in this game. 1 user
