What would you suggest? Kind heartedness would do well in the context?

I believe this is far better than the "open-hearted".
the meaning of the words in English shows that it suits more the Arabic
رحابة صدر
I believe that the Arabic here is more general than simply restricting it to just "tolerating" or bearing others' provoking, etc. It might include accepting differences, (in views, characters, etc.).
The word "open-hearted" in English, might give another meaning for an English speaker.

: "Tolerating" also means accepting differences, google for "tolerating differences". Furthermore, assuming you are right, we are still bound by the context, which is إصلاح ذات البين, this has nothing to do with, for example, accepting culural differences.
