Spanish term

no sumará

Spanish to English Tech/Engineering Manufacturing Ecuadorian manufacturing contract
Context:

8. En todo caso, las compras que realice cualquier nueva sociedad que ingrese a formar parte del Company, NO SUMARÁ para efectos de determinar el cumplimiento de los volúmenes consignados en la presente oferta, siempre y cuando se trate de otros envases totalmente diferentes a los que actualmente usa el consumidor o sean de otros productos fabricados por otra compañía que adquiera el consumidor.

I'm not sure if it's just the plural subject - singular verb that's throwing me off. Is COMPRAS the the subject?

Thanks!

Discussion

philgoddard Jun 1, 2012:
Yes, "compras" is the subject, but the writer has probably made the verb agree with "sociedad" by mistake. The comma is wrong, strictly speaking, but it's being used as a pause for breath in a long sentence.
Helena Chavarria Jun 1, 2012:
"Compras" seems to be the subject but if it was, there wouldn't be a comma after "company". Could the information in the previous sentence be the subject of "no sumará'?
