BK-Schlüsselkompetenzen

Physics degree transcript. One of the modular examinations taken was "BK-Schlüsselkompetenzen".
Can anyone tell me what the "BK" might stand for?

... Grammar-wise, the favored answer doesn't make much sense to me because of the hyphen. Say, it's a Basiskurs Physik: You'd never write "BK-Physik" because it's a Physikbasiskurs, not Basiskursphysik (since the hyphen indicates that the word could be written as one). Likewise, it's Schlüsselkompetenzenbasiskurs, not the other way around. I can't believe Heidelberg has adopted this kind of writing style since I left the area.

I'm rather inclined to agree with Mack's interpretation (or even "Baukonstruktion," see below). I wouldn't even dismiss Brigitte's "Berufskolleg," which seehand thought of as well.

However, I think it'd be best we set up a betting pool; whoever can predict the right time asker returns will get the points. I don't find this to be far-fetched: Please note that asker's other two questions from 2014 and 2015 are still open.

BK =Basiskurs? Der Vorkurs besteht aus zwei Teilen, die verschachtelt sind:

1. Dem mathematischen Vorkurs für Physiker mit Vorlesungen und Übungen ( Mathematischer Vorkurs )

Hier wird Schulwissen neu aktiviert und vertieft und es werden neue Konzepte, die im Studium gebraucht werden vorgestellt und praktisch geübt. Es gibt keinen Zeitplan fur diesen Vorkurs, weil der Fortschritt stark vom Vorwissen der Teilnehmer abhängen wird.

2. Dem ersten Teil des Basiskurses für ein nachhaltiges Studium

Dieser Basiskurs vermittelt "Schlüsselkompetenzen" , die es den Studierenden ermöglichen sollen, ihr Studium besser zu organisieren und zu bewältigen. Themen der einzelnen Sitzungen sind unten aufgeführt. Dieser Kurs beginnt während des Vorkurses: insgesamt sind dafür 6 halbe Tage reserviert

Hello Phil Yes, sorry, I used BWL to reference p. 2 of the document: "Einführung in die BWL für Nichtökonomen."

As said below, you and Brigitte are right that we need more information. This question is nearly impossible to answer, as this could be an "internal" abbreviation, such as "Baukonstruktion" or "Biophysik..." (see below).

Björn I wasn't sure what you meant by BWL, but I've looked it up and it's Betriebswirtschaftslehre, so your link is to a course in physics with business studies. In that case, BK could be Betriebskunde.
It would still be helpful for Brian to confirm where and what the course is.

@Brigitte and Phil "Schüsselqualifikationen" are "überfachliche Qualifikationen," although some take it to mean "Schlüsselwissen," IMO.

BWL could indeed be involved, as shown here:

This would already exclude "Bildende Kunst" and "Kunde." However, I agree with both of you that this question is impossible to answer without knowing the syllabus or at least, the university (a specific one, though, not just the general type). One has "BK" as the abbreviation for "Biophysik und Physik komplexer Systeme," another one for "Baukonstruktion."

My guess is it's about specialization.

It could be berufsbezogene Kommunikation, possibly talking and writing about physics in English.

Since it says "kompetenzen", not something you particularly associate with a theoretical subject like physics, I wonder if it means something like study or research skills. K could be Kunde.

I'm not sure if this is quite the right way to put it. I would think BK stands for Berufskolleg

BK seems to be the abbreviation for the respective course. Here an excerpt from the Word-doc.:
"Für Studierende, die ein Master-Studium planen, werden vier Studienschwerpunkte in den Gebieten AG: Astro- und Geophysik, BK: Biophysik und Physik komplexer Systeme, FM: Festkörper- und Materialphysik sowie KT: Kern- und Teilchenphysik empfohlen."
