English term

amount payable by Buyer

English to Greek Law/Patents Law: Contract(s) purchase order
"Buyer may set off any amount owing from Buyer to Vendor against any amount payable by Buyer."

I actually have a problem with the whole phrase. it does not make any sense to me. Can you please help?

Suggested translation:

Discussion

D. Harvatis Jan 23, 2012:
It's possible that the error is elsewhere: perhaps it should be "...owing from Vendor to Buyer". So if the Buyer is owed something from the Vendor, that would affect the amount that the Buyer must pay. I think that "...amount payable by Buyer" is correct.

Valentini, I agree with you. Thank you for confirming because this phrase is driving me crazy
Valentini Mellas Jan 23, 2012:
amount payable TO buyer Maria it seems to me as if that last "by" should have been a "to" i.e. if buyer owes 100 Euros and Vendor owes Buyer 200 then Buyer only gets 100.
