English term

leakage currents may be additive

English to Norwegian Other Medical: Instruments Computer-based unit that records digital images and videos of surgical procedures
This is from a user manual for SDC Classic, a medical device that records images and videos of surgical procedures. The complete sentence is as follows: "When the SDC Classic is interconnected with other electrical devices, leakage currents may be additive, resulting in electromagnetic emissions that can interfere with the normal function of electronic medical equipment." I understand the term leakage currents, but I am unsure as to what "may be additive" means. Anyone have an idea of how to translate this?
Thank you :)

Note from asker:
Fant følgende info på nettet: Electronic devices are commonly connected to one another. For instance, printers and scanners may be connected to computers, whereas compact disc (CD) players and digital versatile disc (DVD) players are commonly connected to receivers. Leakage current, however, may be additive in nature among connected electronic devices that share a common ground plane. Although the leakage current of a single piece of equipment may be sufficiently diminutive to not cause user-perceptible touch current, such leakage current in combination with the leakage current of other pieces of equipment may result in user-perceptible touch current, causing undesirable effects. http://www.patentstorm.us/patents/6809579-description.html Så akkumulerende er absolutt dekkende her. Tusen takk:)
