Hello all! I've been experimenting with Wordfast to decide which tool to use and I ran into this very important issue. If for some reason I have to search and replace a word in 834 different segments, is there a way I can update the memories with the edited segments? Or (God forbid) do I have to edit one by one? Please do tell me I can simply tell the software to update and that's it. ) ... See more Hello all! Hello Marcos, I am not a Wordfast guru but I guess you can just edit the TM file (that is opening it with Wordpad) through a simple word search and replace the word you don't want by another one. But there may be an even simpler way to do it. Hope it helps Cheers, Christophe | | | Marcos Pinto Brazílie Local time: 14:12 Člen (2013) angličtina -> portugalština AUTOR TÉMATU Valid solution | Dec 6, 2013 |
Hey Christophe! Thank you for your suggestion. Actually, this is what I'm doing now. However, I guess the software should offer this possibility, although it may be a dangerous tool if not used properly. So I'll wait for the WF gurus to see if the software is better than this. Wordfast Pro has a Find/replace facility, which is very similar to what you would find in Word: No support for regular expressions, though, but since a TXML is a plain text file, you can use any decent text editor for that. Once your global replacement has been made, you can commit all segments to TM (Ctrl+Alt+End). | |

Hi Dominique, Thank you! I was already using the search/replace, but what I was really looking for was the Ctrl+Alt+End detail. Thanks! Marcos

You can use TM Admin perspective and connect to the TM then do Find and Replace for the content you need to replace. Find and Replace can be found in TM Content menu or using Ctrl+F in TM Admin Perspective. Once you replace all the TUs use Update All Segments to TM (Ctrl+Alt+End) to save the changes to TM. | | | To report site rules violations or get help, contact a site moderator: You can also contact site staff by submitting a support request » Memories update with multiple segments.
