Thank you for trying. But the messages are still arriving non-stop. So now I've turned off my forum tracking settings as well. But it's infuriating. I don't want to stop receiveing notifications and following forums ... Edited to add an update: I've received another 10 of these mails since I turned off the forum tracking.

Hello, thanks everybody for posting this issue. Do you think we need all to disable notifications?

After that I have deleted all messages, and I keep doing so, but it seems a neverending story. Now I have 73 new messages in 18 minutes! I am already performing a scan on my computer, but I wonder if it's just me or if anyone else has this problem. Hi Phoenix III, I just meant this as a temporary solution. Do you have a SPAM folder in your email? Once you send one of those messages there, they'll be delivered to that folder directly the next time. That's how my email account works. If you don't have a service with SPAM or can't forward messages there, you could set one up and let your Proz.com messages go there just until the storm is over. You can change your Proz.com email anytime and later change it back. It takes seconds. And since you would only decide to send the KudoZ notifications to the SPAM folder, you can still receive job notifications. HTH

I appreciate the efforts made by ProZ.com Staff to eliminate this problem. In the morning hours (PST) I received 648 of these nonsensical messages from the "robot terrorist" who must have caused some serious disruption to email servers, user mail accounts and our otherwise peaceful workday in general. For 2 hours the messages stopped, but now (1pm) they are coming in, again. I hope the source will be found and disabled soon. Best wishes to the Staff! P.S. This would have been ... Thanks Ildiko. The persistence is, I guess, admirable. For the time being, vetting will be required for new questions from non-members with new profiles, to prevent these spam questions from being posted. Staff and moderators will be vetting these questions as they come in while a solution is reached. | | | Caryl Swift Polen Local time: 23:16 Pools naar Engels + ... Is it safe to turn our notifications back on yet? | Sep 4, 2015 |
Dear Jared, Thank you all for all your efforts. Could you tell us if it's safe to turn our Kudoz and forum notification settings back on now? Best wishes to you all! | | | Turning notifications back on should be fine | Sep 4, 2015 |
Hello Caryl, Yes, you're OK turning your notifications back on now. The spam activity continues, but under the current situation none of those posts are going public, and therefore generate no notifications. If anyone needs help getting their notification settings back to where they should be, just let me know.
