English to Polish: Work related stress and its legal implications
General field: Law/Patents
Source text - English
The issue of stress-related illness is becoming more present and originates more frequently in a working environment. Employees more often report working conditions and increasing workload as a cause of mental strain that can further induce psychiatric disorders such as anxiety or depression but can manifest also through a physical illness such as cardiovascular or gastric problems. As a result, more legal cases involving stress-induced injury caused to various extent by work environment present themselves in courts. The difficulty presents itself when assessing the foreseeability of such an injury. Another ambiguity may arise when establishing the main factor that caused the injury. Since personal issues also affect individuals to a certain extent, often, there are multiple factors to the injury suffered. Questions also arise about individual resistance to stress and pressures, about the extent to which employers should investigate the mental state of employees, and about the scope of reasonable accommodations to be implemented to protect vulnerable individuals. The psychological injury was first recognized in 1995 when the English High Court passed a judgment making an employer liable to an employee for such an injury. Twenty-first-century updates in legislation focused on employee welfare and have provided a statutory framework for interpretation and determination of a safe work environment regarding physical safety as well as mental health safety.

Bio

I am a native speaker of Polish, and I speak English fluently. I translate from and into English. Furthermore, I enjoy to continuously expanding my knowledge of the English language as well as my native language. I also continue acquiring skills in new languages (German, Italian and French).

I have always been passionate about languages and in 2007 graduated from Polonia University in Czestochowa, Poland with a Master's degree in English Philology specialising in English>Polish/ Polish>English Legal Translation.

Throughout my professional career, I have worked in a variety of industries. These included retail optics and eye care, general office administration as well as interpretation.

My main topics of interest are economics and business, human resources, optics and general healthcare, the aviation industry, sport and wellness, travel and tourism.

I would be very happy to join translation projects in these areas, but I'm by no means restricted to them.

In work, my focus is on quality, attention to detail, meeting deadlines and learning from every project.
