An easy drive from Montreal and Ottawa Jun 9, 2004

Hi Hervé,
Are you in Quebec City?
I am quite far from both provincial capitals (Toronto and Quebec City) but if you wish to do some camping along the way, there are beautiful parks along the north shore of Lake Ontario and the Saint Lawrence river. For more info on that, please contact me.
Those looking for a hotel or B&B, please contact me. I will be happy to help organise reservations, etc, and know the owners of a few of these establishments.

I would suggest making these reservations soon; with wedding season upon us, sometimes last-minute bookings are difficult, particularly if you have a particular inn in mind.
I can't wait

and from St Jean sur Richelieu, too Jun 9, 2004

Hi Nancy

I'm qtaying in St jean sur Richelieu, that's just 100 miles away and with my (girl)friend, we were thinking of having a look upsream at the St Lawrence from an Ontarian point of view.
I should be there at the beginning of July but she is the usual driver (and chief organizer) ). We already spoke about the idea and I'll let you know what comes out of it. Anyway, what's your programme for the day, so far?... See more

programme : suggestions welcome Jun 9, 2004

Hi again,
I am open to suggestions for a programme to follow.
I've hosted two previous powwows, one in winter and one in summer. The winter one was held at a restaurant and mainly centred on Proz.com. It was a luncheon affair that broke up around 4.00 or 5.00.
The summer powwow was held outdoors, poolside, starting mid-afternoon, on a Friday, and libations and food were plentiful. It was far more relaxed - people were free to move around and mingle. I liked that format best. Af

The summer powwow was held outdoors, poolside, starting mid-afternoon, on a Friday, and libations and food were plentiful. It was far more relaxed - people were free to move around and mingle. I liked that format best. After everyone had eaten, "business" came out - of course we talked shop all day, but also swam and played with kids and made jokes and friends.
I think we could set aside an hour after supper, maybe, to discuss things ProZian - so far, two moderators plus the owner will be there (you can't back out now, Henry!!!)
Ideas?
We could also discuss this on the forums

From Montreal's South Shore Jun 18, 2004

Just take the 20 ouest, which becomes the 401 at the Ontario border. From that point it's around half an hour of pleasant country driving!

I would be delighted if you could come - I would love to meet you in person, after all this time! But I can't give you directions from Mexico ! Need some help with reservations, etc?
BTW, that offer is extended to all participants

Where is this town? Jun 25, 2004

Actually Marcus, it's the County of South Stormont. I live in the country, north-west of Cornwall and south-east of Ottawa. Try to find Avonmore and Long Sault; my house is on the corner at the half-way point between them.

Could you send us a map? What do you suggest if someone wants to tent? Jun 25, 2004

Expedia or Mapquest have maps of everywhere in the world plus driving direction if you put in your home address.

4741 County Road 15 Jun 25, 2004

I am at the intersection of County Road 15 and County Road 18, South Stormont (for those of you with older maps, that's Cornwall Township. As you arrive at my interesection you will see a sign: Harrison's Corners. Yep, we're in beautiful downtown Harrison's Corners.
I have plenty of room here for you to spen dthe night in a tent; if you prefer, you may rent a campsite. See http://www.parks.on.ca/.

what do you think of mid-afternoon? Jul 8, 2004

That's how it was at Louise's last year, and it turned out perfect.
If the weather is fine(let's hope, because the house is being renovated);-) we'll have a couple of bonfires when it gets dark.
