Bio:Since retirement as a Personnel and Industrial Relations Officer from Electricity Company of Gujarat State in Nov,2008 I am fully engaged in translation job since then.I am native of Gujarat India and I translate source language English to target language Gujarati and v...ice versa .Rajasthan is the neighboring state where Hindi is spoken so I come across translations of Hindi police papers and Property documents as well as Acts and rules in Hindi to be translated to English.After retirement I can earn reasonable amount from this vocation.

Message:Heartiest greetings to all those who are attending the precious occasion which will go along way in the realm of translation.Translation as it said is rewriting of original in another language which should create the same sense and meaning....I have felt confusion over words rates,taxes,charges,expenses and outgoings .these words occur in Property documents of Flat Owner's Associations sale deed or agreement to sale.Further rates to be charged from the customer must be reasonable so that Translator can live a happy life. Of course difference of rates are there in Translating a book and Translating a single paper or two.Further difference of rates are there when direct translation of the source matter say book of a page translating directly as it is and from book translating selected items say from the book of judgment translating only judgments in which accused is acquitted.Here ffrom the whole book judgments are required to be read and then only those judgments which are of aquittal are to be translated and written.Meaning is time is consumed in finding out required judgment.In the event it must be discussed how to quote prices in such a situation.It is practical experience that on reading an average 15 judgments you find one judgment of acquittal. In such a situation how to quote rates.How reading part is to be included in translation rates.For translators dictionary is sine qua none. Translators must have library of dictionary.Translator may contact language department of respective government and purchase dictionary which will be authentic translation of a particular word as Government calls meeting of language expert in Publishing Governmental dictionary.As in Gujarat there is authentic trilanguage dictionary i.e. English to Gujarati and Hindi.Another point is how to gt translation crtification.I had received one assignment of Birth Date certificate from South Africa I translated it and senta but the agency said you are not certified translator.So it will be in the goodnes of the translators to discuss and see how to become a certified translator?Is ther any examination to write? or what is the procedure to get certification.To conclude wish all the best for thetranslator and thanks a lot of proz.com which is doing commandable service ato the family of translators.
