Any change? Nov 15, 2023

Compared with the last translation contest, has anything changed with regard to rules and voting system?

The English source text is a poor choice Nov 16, 2023

The English source text is a sloppy, amateurish piece of writing. I wouldn't want to translate it professionally. Why would anyone do it for fun?

Lucky is the translator who only ever receives well-written texts! Nov 16, 2023

Well, it's a lot better than the Norwegian text, which reads like something from a village newsletter

I wouldn't normally touch this kind of thing either, but I'm quite excited about finally getting a chance to compete, demonstrate my magnificence and be crowned the GOAT of GOATs.

Except I won't. Judging from KudoZ, I imagine my pearls will be trampled to bits by the word-for-word mob. But let's wait and see.

Maybe ChatGTP will win.

My main objection is that the text is so loooooooooooooooooooooooooong, because I'm a busy boy.

(I see, by the way, that someone has entered a translation into Middle English. Attempting the subvert the system are we?!)

Because they like to suffer? Nov 16, 2023

Because they are masochistic and want to be frustrated by not understanding (and not being told) why they did not win despite they got the most points?

What about making your contest rules compliant with consumer protection laws,
instead of posting boring polls?

Contest seems to have to be abandoned Dec 13, 2023

Based on the entries so far, I think it is clear what translators think about this contest.
Time to update the rules and make them transparent and fair, don't you think?
