Laura, I thought I knew what this was, and, in looking up my idea (which turned out to be wrong) I came upon this (which might be right). Check out the link below and see what you think. This PET seems to be a component of high-tech plastic polymers, and the ambient temperature is a condition for the alloying process (I think it's just room temperature).
If I'm way off, I'll accept in advance being slammed by colleagues. :)

PET is a type of plastic commonly found in food packaging.
'rayon ambient' is simply one of the non-refrigerated sections of the store --- for example, where the UHT milk is kept (i.e. not refrigerated)

Yes 'ambient temperature' is indeed used in supermarket terminology for this kind of display area — but it's nothing to do here with the temperature at which the plastic is processed!
'rayon ambient' is simply one of the non-refrigerated sections of the store --- for example, where the UHT milk is kept (i.e. not refrigerated)
