Italian term

marmista

Italian to English Marketing Manufacturing Promotion piece for machine used in marble working
I've thought of marble craftsman and marble worker, but I wanted some input from my talented colleagues to see if anyone has any other suggestions.

Here's the source text where the word is used:

Di particolare rilievo sono due unità polifunzionali, collocate rispettivamente in ingresso ed in uscita dalla macchina, che, con diverse combinazioni d’utilizzo, permettono al marmista di far fronte alle più svariate esigenze produttive

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

This would be my preference, speaking as a cabinetmaker or woodworker.

agree Ivana UK : I prefer "marble worker" as this sounds the most natural in UK English (although the Oxford-Paravia has "marble cutter" and "marble carver" as translations)

agree Amalia Bit : My father was a marble worker and this is how we described his craft. The other terms, although accurate, can imply carving when much of the work may creating pictures, laying floors, building stairs, all equally skilled but different tasks.

Marble is a high class material and avoiding "worker" upgrades the person's image as well. Use "worker" for guys working in a gravel pits!

I am with you with craftsman. It gives dignity to the profession by implying that this is a craft, a profession that takes years to perfect
