Jeśli owa 'sprawcza rola' to nie jakiś kluczowy termin w tekście, który wymaga ścisłego i spójnego tłumaczenia.
Trzeba by jakoś składnię przerobić.
Czyli coś takiego by było:

Jednak "efficient role" w tekstach ekonomicznych już traci ten przyczynowy charakter. Wygląda na to, że "causative function" jest właśnie tym, czego mi potrzeba, ale na razie jeszcze nie będę zamykać pytania. Dzięki wszystkim :)
Tymczasem, zdaniem autora tekstu, właściwe jest tu podejście podmiotowe.
