Modern computers are frequently clusters of smaller units rather than a single mainframe.
Along with its peripherals, the Cray XMP we used to work with for seismic processing filled a whole room - the Dell clusters that followed it had 10 times the performance and fitted in two racks.

Considering "Auslastung" and "Antwortzeiten", this could be about a processor complex rather than a computer.

Note from asker:
Thanks a lot. I checked the definition of computer cluster at the links you provided. I also checked the definition of processor complex. Processor complex actually fits perfectly in this case with the rest of the context - although in other instances computer cluster may apply. So I'm keeping both translations in my personal glossary. |

: Agree; just don't know why you're moving away from your first suggestion. See no difficulty in using Auslastung and Antwortzeit in reference to a server cluster. // Seems you're right! Apparently, no precise translation. Have a nice Sunday!

Hi Björn, not moving away, just another alternative.

: definitely "cluster" - I used to program clusters to perform large-scale simulations.

Discussion
Rechnerkomplex would then be sth like "computing complex".

Mind that there is a distinct difference between computers and computing. The U of Texas speaks of the Department of Mathematics and Computing Science, name insisted by the late Prof. E. Dijkstra (algorithm) as he had previous done at Eindhoven U of T.
