Thank you, Farida and James. I learned something new today.
Farida Vyachkileva Apr 16, 2015:
Yes, it's auxiliary power unit, designed for air starting of main engines (APU). But they are installed on helicopter rear section or may be of portable version, used on ground. Ground starting unit is installed nearby helicopter and through big diameter pipe, connected to engine, supplies air to engine air starter. They are referred to as ground starting unit.
James McVay Apr 16, 2015:
Angela I was able to verify that helicopters have APUs installed for starting here:

I couldn't verify that "mobile APUs" are used with helicopters. But it makes sense that they would be used for helicopters powered by turbine engines.

Portable Auxilliar Power Units "The primary purpose of an aircraft APU is to provide power to start the main engines."

James and Farida The different ways of starting engines are described here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aircraft_engine_starting
Using APU is one of them. I am just trying to make sure that this is what is used for helicopters.
Angela Greenfield (asker) Apr 15, 2015:
Just to clarify: Я понимаю, что "силовые установки" - это power supply units, и т.д. Т.

mobile APU

Angela, you didn't give us a lot of context, but this might be what you're looking for. APU = auxiliary power unit. Here's a qote from a pilot:

"As I'm currently with the Royal Norwegian Air Force at a Norwegian AFB, I regularly am in contact with different equipment used on fighters while they are on the ground.

"One such equipment is the GTC (Gas Turbine Compressor) which is a small jet engine used to provide air to fighters that don't have a internal APU. (So as you probably have understood, its a mobile APU). [http://www.airliners.net/aviation-forums/tech_ops/read.main/...]"
Note from asker:
Thank you, James. Our techs confirmed the "ground starting units". Who would know? :-) Live and learn.
