Discussion

kashew Jul 10, 2015:
Yes, I know - and did say "maybe" "exciter rotor lead flag terminals" is one hell of a mouthful!
Interesting to see how it comes out in French.
Tony M Jul 10, 2015:
@ Kashew I don't think your re-write is necessary or probably correct: there is no reason why these shouldn't be 'flag terminals' on the end of the 'exciter rotor leads' — the singular 'lead' simply indicates it is a noun qualifying another noun, as is normal practice in EN.
Odile Raymond (asker) Jul 10, 2015:
Thanks for the clarification, Kashew!
kashew Jul 10, 2015:
Compare with this machine: http://www.insinkerator.com/en-us/Documents/Foodservice/Food...
Maybe it should read - ...by removing each of THE exciter rotor leadS AND flag terminals from the quick...
Good luck!

Peer comment(s):

neutral Tony M : Yes, but 'flag terminal' does describe one particular KIND of 'cosse'; and they needn't necessarily be 'à sertir' either.

agree Tony M : Does seem to be also used, though I think the 'plate' is important, as there are types that are angled in the other plane.

One type...

Here's an illustration of one type of 'flag terminal' — the key feature is that the terminal part is a right-angles to the axis of the wire.

Note that they may be crimp or solder types, and connection may be push-one or screwed.

While looking on Linguee, I found this rather helpful description:

"Flag terminals allow a 90° connection to the terminal block without bending the wire."
Note from asker:
Thank you for this, Tony!
"Agried" with thanks! They look like small flags, indeed.
Peer comments on this reference comment:

neutral Jennifer Levey : "Here's an illustration ..." Where? Give it us and get (or not, as the case may be) an "agri".
