This is one of a number of powers listed in a power of attorney from the Balearic Islands:
"contratar activa o pasivamente rentas, pensiones y prestaciones periódicas, temporales o vitalicias, y su aseguramiento real"
My attempt is this:
"to enter into bargains as recipient or provider of regular, temporary or lifetime annuities, pensions and benefits, and..."
I think "aseguramiento real" might be synonymous with "garantía real". If anyone can back me up on that up or tell me I'm quite wrong, I'd be grateful.
There's a previous KudoZ entry here, but I simply don't understand how it relates to the ST.

pretty sure that's what's happening -- i.e. the power is to arrange to pay or receive annuities, pensions, benefits, etc. and to arrange for collateral to ensure that the obligation is fulfilled further down the line

It's hard to tell which it supposed to be without having some industry experience with these kinds of instruments. Your solution would certainly be a way around opting for either, however, I am still a little troubled by the "su" in there, as I feel that might be some kind of clue. |
| Thanks again, John. That makes sense. It's difficult to find the legislation these powers of attorney relate to, if any. Here in Mexico, they usually reference specific articles of legislation, which you can then use to interpret what the power entails. I can't find any clues in this one, and the only references I've found to "aseguramiento real" relate to quality assurance. |

This is a tough one and I may be mistaken on the suggestion. I do know that in Spain aseguramiento in the context of BIENES / VALORES (as long as they are not LITIGIOSOS, in which case would likely denote "securing attachment" thereof) could refer to the underwriting of assets as a form of being securely acquired.
