Discussion

Laurie Rudloff (asker) May 19, 2017:
Hauteur d'empilement validée. Merci à tous pour votre aide !
Daryo May 4, 2017:
here the "stack height" can only be the additional height [of just 28 mm] added to a pile of empty crates when ONE empty crate is added on top of the pile.

caisses en plastique réutilisables => there is often the need to move around piles of EMPTY crates [to reuse them at some other location], thus the height added to the whole pile by each empty/folded crate is important, and smaller is better!

BTW 28 mm is not necessarily the height of the whole crate, even if it's a foldable crate. Most crates are made with slanted walls, and can be nested inside the crate that is underneath.
Tony M May 3, 2017:
@ Antoine No, there's nothing « abusive » about the use of 'bakery crates' here — they are saying that their (collapsible?) crates take up less stowage space when empty than conventional bakery crates, like these:

See how the metal handles fold out (as shown) to allow the crates to be stacked inside each other when empty, but can be hinged into the inside of the crate like this:

...when the crates are full and greater spacing is needed.
Antoine Dequidt May 3, 2017:
L'utilisation du terme Bakery crate est peut-être abusive en l'occurrence. Il peut s'agir de simples plaques à pain classées dans la catégorie des bacs :

Tony M May 2, 2017:
@ Schtroumpf That's the vagaries of the EN language — this could of course be totally ambiguous: it might mean 'the height of the stack'; however, from the surrounding context, we can easily clear the ambiguity and see that it is referring to the 'height when you want to stack it' (seems like some kind of crate that folds almost flat?) — could perhaps have been less ambiguously expressed as 'stacking height'.

I suspect 'hauteur d'empilage / gerbage' is the first meaning above: 'how high you can stack them'
Schtroumpf May 2, 2017:
Vraiment ? Une hauteur d'empilage de 28 mm ??
Enfin, Termium vous donne bien hauteur d'empilage ou hauteur de gerbage pour stack height. A consulter sans modération...

disagree Daryo : the whole stack is 28 mm high? Where is this happening? In a micro version of a doll house? // the only samples I can find are those where "hauteur d'empilement" is the total height of the stack - not good for this ST
