Not sure of the specific terminology - is it actually called "vaulting" or just "constructing"?

The suggestion by Colleague Jack Doughty is too good to leave in the comment box: He suggests "road bridge arch," where road clearly refers to automobile traffic and avoids the calque of automobile.

agree Jack Doughty : I'd prefer "road bridge arch". // Yes, before the Channel Tunnel (Chunnel) was built, there was an alternative proposal for a Channel Bridge (Chidge?) which would have had road and rail decks.

Thank you, Jack. I like it! I tossed around "automobile roadway" in my mind. Some bridges have separate decks dedicated to rail and autobmobile traffic.
