Не можем прийти к согласию, кто-то настаивает на “for as much as 25 years”, другие говорят, что правильно “for as many as 25 years”. Сторонники “many” говорят, что “years” – исчисляемое. Сторонники “much” ссылаются на Гугол, который находит очень много результатов в уважаемых источниках:

На форуме по ссылке приводят аргумент в пользу much: 25 years -- это период времени. Я бы использовал "long".

It makes me think of New York speak: "I am living in NY for 10 years already", or "I am living in NY since 10 years", which are literal translations from German.

as much as 25 years- here the amount highlighted. in your example, He may have lived in the United States for as much as 25 years - not the number, but "lived" as much-highlighted. The first used as countable, the second used as uncountable.
Let him thank zverovodov for 25 years of hard work. Plain and simple.
