English term

There is no dispute but that

English to Portuguese Law/Patents Law (general)
There is no dispute but that XX's habitual residence was YY at the time of their retention.

The sentence appears in a judgement and I'm not sure if it means that it is unquestionable that XX's residence was YY or that the only dispute in the case is regarding their habitual residence?

Discussion

Mario Freitas Jul 10, 2022:
@ Phil Maybe, but it could also mean "there is no dispute except that", with the very same construction in English, considering the use of "but", such as in "everyone but me".
philgoddard Jul 10, 2022:
Clauwolf I can see why you changed the language pair - the question was English-Portuguese, but reads like English-English - but you probably should have left it.
"No dispute but that" means the same as "no dispute that".
