Spanish term
batallante
Spanish to English
Other
Military / Defense
This is from memoirs of WWI by a man from New Zealand who ended up in Argentina. It was originally written in English. I am translating back into English because the original was lost (I know, I know...)
Mac Guinnis, mi primer batallante, a quien dejé en la playa como un herido del Anzac, vino a saludarme, y reingresó al regimiento. Tuve un shock cuando el general me “promovió” a comandar una compañía en la nueva división de infantería, que entonces el comandaba.

batman
Not a translation, but like Andrew I am guessing the phrase was "my first batman" folowing his recent commission as an officer.
