Bio

As a famous Israeli author put it, “Translators are
like ninjas. If you notice them, they’re no good”. I love translating,
proofreading and writing, but hate being noticed, which has led me to live a
thousand lives by proxy – and believe me, there is nothing more exciting than
waking up every day knowing that I will stand in someone else’s shoes: I get to
be the voice of your brand and read the minds of your target audience, all the
while adapting it to the French market.

How did it all begin? Well, in the beginning was the Word.
And then came linguists. You know, those annoying little creatures who never
fail to correct spelling mistakes, cannot help but flag typos and secretly cringe
at the thought of inappropriate wording. Well, I’m a proud member of this strange
community that lurks in the shadows. Language junkie? Yes, please.

Throughout my 15 years as an independent translator
and editor, I’ve helped people fall in love with high-profile brands and honed
my skills in a number of areas. In a nutshell:

Brands: Airbnb, COS, Amazon Prime,
PayPal, Levi’s, Starbucks, Danone, Diageo, H&M, Gucci, C&A, Dyson, P&G,
ClassPass, Trip Advisor, Estée Lauder, UNIQLO, Turkish Airline, Empire State
Building, Hilton, Heartstyles, Lee, UNiDAYS

Areas of specialty: Hospitality,
travel & tourism, fashion, B2C and B2B marketing, dubbing and subtitling
(films, series and documentaries), psychometrics, lifestyle

Media/document type: Print and
TV ads, digital, web copy, outdoor & indoor signage, in-store, blogs and
newsletters

When I am not obsessing over finding the perfect
wording for your new tagline, I enjoy taking endless walks with my furry
four-legged friends, reading thrillers that keep me awake until dawn,
travelling to Thailand (where I spent 4 years), China and South-East Asia,
sipping Burgundy wines (I live in Dijon, in the heart of a region blessed by Dionysus),
and experimenting with food (so far, nobody got hurt).

What else?

Teaching: In my previous life as a
teacher, I taught beginner and intermediate English to students aged 11 to 16,
and French as a foreign language to students from various nationalities and age
groups.

Editing: I’ve been the head
proofreader of the French magazine Inexploré since 2020.

Education & degrees: Masters
in Translation and Information Management (INALCO, Paris), Certified English
teacher (CAPES, Dijon).

Networking: Over the
years, I’ve built a small network of trusted colleagues, which enables me to quickly
set up a team for larger projects. All of them are also ninjas, so you probably
won’t notice them.
