I did buy an upgrade to one of my CAT tools that wasn't strictly speaking required, but the newly promised features did look like something that I might like to use. Unfortunately the CAT tool vendor later changed the deal, saying that the feature I had hoped to gain would only be available to upgraders for 1 year, after which it would have to be paid for separately on a subscription basis.

More than one | Jul 12, 2020 |
Subscriptions, both memberships and software - I had forgotten those!
Hardware - a new screen when the old one stopped working.
The CIoL conference in London, just before the Corona lockdown. I will be going to that again next year, I hope.
And I am planning to go to the two-day Danish Powwow at the end of October, as it is only an hour's drive away from where I live.

I upgraded my computer to Windows 10 at the end of last year and loads of problems with it after that, which forced me to buy a new laptop in April - delivered beginning of June!!
Upgraded to Trados 2019
One year of Across
All costs which I really could have done without, but came when I really did not need them
On top of that, my fridge broke and my coffee machine as well, I could have gone mad!!

But I didn't pay a penny as some courses were offered free by TransLegal- and they are available for free till September- all this due to Coronavirus. i had some time due to lack of work due to the virus so invested this time to learn more and it was worthwhile and free.

I can only sympathise. I might have murdered someone in your place.
Dictionaries and literature | Jul 13, 2020 |
Several specialised English-Dutch dictionaries and other books on paper (veterinary sciences, environment, livestock management), and I've prolonged my 3-year subscription to Van Dale online dictionaries (Dutch combined with many other European languages).

Locked at home, with a lot less service than usual, I have already bought five jugsaw puzzles. And that's the only thing besides the usual bills and food I have spent money with in 2020.
I finally replaced my desktop dating from 2009.
Disappointingly, the new one doesn’t do anything much the old one didn’t, except boot up ten minutes faster.

Amongst other items, a tool for sharpening chainsaw chains. Works well, should pay for itself after the first dozen or so uses.

Or - more precisely - a stand that goes on top of an existing desk and can move up and down. Highly recommend so you're not sitting all the time while working!
