Well, shouldn't you do a spell-check *before* saving your segments into your TM? Either I missed something or I really don't see the problem...
Ok, I know that with Trados (unlike SDLX, e.g.) your translations enter your TM basically on the fly, whenever you choose "Save/Open Next". BUT: In my workflow, after I completed translating a file, I run the spell checker in the uncleaned file (source hidden then, of course), and afterwards clean the file into the TM again, overwriting existing segments. Shouldn't this do the trick pretty much the same and with far less effort?
Did I miss something?

The suggestion pertains to those TM pairs, that have been entered long ago. In other words, it's a question (and the answer) about a normal sanitary approach - cleaning up now and then, and NOT when entered.
This is issue 1. Issue two is, doing this not for the target, but for the source language. For the target language it is easy in TRADOS, but I have yet to find a method, how to spellcheck the text in source segments.
That's why my suggestion.
Third issue, while at it: The end-of-line characters are gone from the text, and this is quite a problem for anybody trying to repeat what I did. I parked the source for now at

PS. SITE STAFF, Help - I would like to have this source in the article, but so far could not raise anybody there - seems like when it's published that's it, no more changes possible.

Hello all,
The instructions on the article are far too complicated. I have a simpler solution.
- Export your TM in a TMX format.
- Open the TMX with Notepad++.
- Install the plugin DSpellCheck.
- Set multiple languages (the source language and the target language).
- Run your spell check, correct the errors.
- Save your file.
- Import the amended TMX file into your TM.
Let me know if it worked for you!

The problem I find with DSpellCheck is that It does not have a "spell checking window" like traditional spell checkers, so the spell checking process is too long, specially in a long TM.
