Email Jun 28, 2022

Mostly by email, occasionally through WeTransfer (very heavy documents). I haven’t delivered a translation in person for a very long time, though I used to when I was a sworn translator in Belgium (there are no sworn translators in Portugal).

Usually in the same way as the customer sends it to me Jun 28, 2022

This is usually email, occasionally WeTransfer.
One big agency has its own portal for uploading the finished job.

Changed times indeed, when I started out there were no computers.
Everything was typed on a basic typewriter that I bought with the money I got for my twenty-first birthday.
That was the final copy after all the rough work had been done by hand.
The electric typewriter came next.

That was the final copy after all the rough work had been done by hand.
The electric typewriter came next.
Translations arrived by fax and were faxed back to the customer.
Then came the computer with huge floppy disks, I remember various occasions when I copied my translation onto a floppy, packed it up and took it to the coach station to be delivered to the agency in Venice, who sent someone to pick it up on arrival.
This all changed with the advent of the modem, since then I have rarely needed to leave the house for work!

Ah.... the IBM selectric typewriter- I used to use one that was provided for me by the firm I worked for. I could never have afforded one myself. It was the leading edge of writing technology.

50/50 email/client platform Jun 28, 2022

It used to be almost exclusively email, but in the meanwhile about half of my regular clients has an upload and download / invoicing platform of their own.

... I submit my encoded translations on a USB key left at a dropbox under a bench in the park. I get paid in cash in a can left behind a statue also in said park.

Mostly TMS Jun 28, 2022

Since my work usually consists of localizing digital content (video games, mobile apps, pc software etc.), I use TMS.

Also, once in a blue moon, I use Git and commit my localizations directly to the project's master branch.

I submit mine by word of mouth. I telephone the client and speak the translation to them down the phone line. If they can't write it all down quickly enough - too bad.
