Where is the option 'Palestine/Israel/Ukraine' ? | | | All of the above | Oct 13, 2023 |
Nothing is better than my small home office where I have everything I need. Though I live near the centre of Lisbon and my street is quite busy, my office is on the rear quite separated from the rest of the house opening to a small patio. It’s a very calm and peaceful environment suitable for work. | | | Zuzana Novotná Czech Republic Local time: 15:14 Member (2014) English to Czech
I´m able to work and focus with my kids around, in a café, in a park... but when I need to stay at my husband´s office for some time, I know I´ll be able to do only work that doesn´t require much mental capacity. It´s not the people though - there is Spotify playing at the backgroung almost all the time and as I´m very picky when it comes to listening to music while working, pop music (especially Czech pop) or random selection of music of various genres simply drives me crazy... For me it's not about the place, but the crowd.
I'd rather be on top of a tower in the middle of the sea than in a cubicle or busy cafe. | | | Lingua 5B Bosnia and Herzegovina Local time: 15:14 Member (2009) English to Croatian + ... Co-working space as best option | Oct 13, 2023 |
Because everybody around me works too, also on a PC, it’s accountability thing and gives that productivity vibe. Plus during breaks it’s possibly to share some chat and coffee, a joke or two. Some infographic collaborations also happened.
Last time I was in one was before Covid. Which reminds me, I’m gonna have to look into it again.

It was very difficult for me to work on a beach, for some reason (didn’t have enough number of test attempts though). The brain just wants to relax there I guess. If I moved a little bit further inland, it became easier.

Wind-carried sand is a dangerous thing, don't expose your computer to it. Sand gets into moving parts and abrades them, and the most vulnerable part of a computer is the keyboard. Many years ago, I took my notebook to the beach once or twice, and at first it seemed totally fine, but several weeks later the keyboard started to fail. When I took the keycaps off, there was sand inside, mixed with the usual household dust. I cleaned it out thoroughly, but it was too late, the keyboard had to be repl... Also the heat | Oct 13, 2023 |
The heat may also compromise your laptop. Minus the Apple, it just says “your device got too hot”, ha ha. But seriously, reflections on the screen, heat, etc. I know we are assuming a good Internet, but beaches don’t always have one.

It worries me when I see people using a laptop on a bed or other soft surface. All the laptops I know of dissipate their heat through the bottom, and need to be on a hard surface. Many people seem not to know that.

Interesting point. So if the bedding catches fire and the person is burned to death, that could be ruled as 'death by (mis)adventure'? | | | Lingua 5B Bosnia and Herzegovina Local time: 15:14 Member (2009) English to Croatian + ...

I use a folded yoga mat on my lap and laptop on top of it. But I don’t like it because it’s not an ergonomic use/typing, I prefer a large keyboard. | | | Aitor Salaberria Spain Local time: 15:14 Member (2023) English to Basque + ... SITE LOCALIZER Any isolated place | Oct 14, 2023 |
For me, any kind of sensory deprivation chamber would be the most difficult place to focus on working. I need external stimulus, wether it's birds singing, traffic, TV, even though I'm the only one in the place. Otherwise, it's so unnatural. | | | Pages in topic: [1 2] > | To report site rules violations or get help, contact a site moderator: You can also contact site staff by submitting a support request » Poll: Which of these would you find the most difficult to work in/at/on?
