Other Nov 1, 2023

I’m expecting this month to be as bumpy as any other month. I’m booked for a job this coming Thursday. What will happen after that? The only thing I know for sure is that any good project will be welcome…

Seasonality Nov 1, 2023

First half of November is always a busy time for interim financial reports among Japanese companies, so naturally it's busier than a "normal" month (and this is indeed reflected in bookings). Having said that, both September and October were unseasonably strong, but then again May/June were a little weaker than usual. As Maria says, it's getting hard to know what to expect.

Slower Nov 1, 2023

I'm expecting it to be slower, but then it would only take one unexpected job to make it a busy month, so who knows.

I've just heard this morning that a market report I've been translating weekly for 17 years will now be published only in English. They won't be using AI for it, but I'm convinced that AI is feeding a "why are we spending so much on translation*?" mindset.

*Along with a hundred other things that AI can supposedly do well, instantly and for free.

wish I had a crystal bal... Nov 1, 2023

I keep wishing for the best, as it seems to have been paying off until now
but there is no way to predict what upcoming month will be like...

I hope it gets busier Nov 1, 2023

I hope it gets busier.
I have been receiving very little work in the last months.

As usual Nov 1, 2023

October was a good month and November started off well, so I'm rather optimistic. But a question like "how was your month of November" in December would be much more interesting than asking people to predict the future.

Unpredictable Nov 2, 2023

Like the last months, unpredictable, with more relax periods but still busy during the other periods.

When it rains... Nov 2, 2023

Regardless of what month it is, it always seems to get busy in a Champions League week.. It's as if the translation industry, for some inexplicable reason, won't allow you to put your feet up, crack open the beers and enjoy the games... Happens all the time.Collapse
