Excel Nightmare Nov 20

Yes, just a few days ago I had to work in an Excel file.

It wasn't that bad actually, no major incidents or anything, but I just hate Excel and only took on the job because it was for a very good client and had an interesting subject.

The night after my brain obviously needed to release the stress and produced all kinds of garbage revolving around Excel. It wasn't a nightmare but not pleasant either. I hope it helped.

Never Had 'Em Nov 20

My definition of what constitutes as a nightmare is very narrow. So no, I've never had them.

But…

I dreamed of having a brawl with certain ProZians, which wouldn't surprise me if it becomes a reality someday.

Other - Recurring interpreting-related dream (though no nightmare in the strict sense) Nov 20

One recurring theme in my dreams was my inability to get to my interpreting venue on time due to a traffic jam, a cancelled train or other "complications".

Other Nov 20

I never have anxiety nightmares about translation, although I have dreamed about translating occasionally. I used to have anxiety dreams about final unviversity year papers and exams man years after completing my degree but not for some time now.

Not nightmares, no Nov 20

I have dreams about translation, and those dreams always wring me out. I was sick lately and knew I just had to sleep too get better. So, I couldn't sleep for two nights in a row (and had to work as usual during the day). Whenever I closed my eyes, my brain would start a conveyor of thoughts, images, voices, conversations, all very realistic and moving very fast. Whenever I closed my eyes, my brain would start a conveyor of thoughts, images, voices, conversations, all very realistic and moving very fast. Alll the while I knew I was in bed and only had to open my eyes to stop the conveyor. One part of the show was an endless chain of cards with text I had to translate from and into languages I don't know IRL Something African. Those chains popped up on both nights, and each time I'd stumble over the same puzzle with a string of letters and numbers. I couldn't solve it and would just open my eyes to stop it. Two terrible nights.

I seldom have nightmares. Usually they take the form of really interesting cases of sleep paralysis, including one where my sister was a witch and wanted me dead. My ultimate nightmare happened when I was a kindergarten kid. Nobody believes in my flying giraffe when I tell about him, but he was real. He even chewed on our badminton rackets that were hanging on the edge of a wardrobe

school, previous job Nov 20

I've had a few dreams where I was attending a university. One involved not being able to get to the right building and finding my class. Others were that I realized I was enrolled in a class near the end of the semester and I had never attended, much less done any of the work! It was also some subject matter in which I had very little knowledge and no interest.

For about a year, I worked as a breakfast waitress at a restaurant to support myself while going to seminary. I was the only waitress and sometimes it was so busy that I could hardly keep up. Sometimes at home, while sleeping, I would dream that I heard the bell on the door ring, indicating that a customer was coming in. I would wake up and it would take me a while to realize that it was only a dream, that it was ok for me to be sleeping at that moment!

I don't remember having any dreams related to translating or interpreting.

A waking nightmare 10:10

I don’t recall having work-related nightmares, but for many translators, the industry itself feels like a waking nightmare.
The translation industry is undergoing massive changes, and unfortunately, many translators are feeling this.
Compliance trainings, AI's dominance, drop in the volume of translation projects and ridiculous rates offered are reflective of this waking nightmare.

There are still different clients out there, who respect us and our work and who value quality above all else.
