There is hardly any work at all. Most buiseness is going on behind the scenes.

It varies widely. Sometimes it's urgent, sometimes it's a week or even 2 weeks ahead. But I suppose most translators will experience this.

I haven’t been booked very often in advance in over 40 years working as a translator, but in the first days of this year a very dear client booked me for a project due to start around the end of February and to run the whole year with projects having very different lengths, from very small to very large. If it's the last breath, then it will be a good one: February was a superb month and in this first week of March I keep being flooded with work (including crazy requests like "I have 13.000 words to be dealt with by tomorrow. How many can you take?").
