Interesting Reading, the Challange is How to Make the Whole Industry Aware Feb 11, 2007

Pak Alfons put a great length of details on how translations quality may affect the way society see the abundant materials available today which are taken from outside sources.

This article needs some serious editing Feb 11, 2007

I would recommend having this article edited, starting with the title: "Critics against the translation in Indonesia", which makes no sense. When the noun "translation" is used in an abstract sense, it takes no article. We're not talking about a specific translation but translation in general. But if we changed the title to "Critics against translation in Indonesia" the meaning is that there are critics who believe translation should not be performed in Indonesia.

Dear Mr. Kim Metzger,

Thank you for reviewing my translation. I agree that the word "the" should be removed to get the full meaning of "Kritik Terjemahan di Indonesia".

However, it is also important to know that the translation the writer is talking about in this article is from English into Indonesian.

Kind regards,

Kita hanya bisa pasrah Feb 21, 2007

Yth. Bpk Hikmat Gumilar

Saya setuju sekali Pak.

Hormat saya,

Title Jun 14, 2007

I would have written the title thus:
"A Translation into Indonesian Criticized"

The Title Should Be Revised Jul 15, 2007

I couldn't agree more with your analysis, Kim. 'Critics' are people who criticize something, while, in fact, its intended referent is 'criticism.' (See the quotation below.)

Thus, the title should be revised to 'Criticisms of Translation in Indonesia.'

Best Regards

Hipyan

The title was revised a while back, so I don't see why we are still talking about it.
I have updated the title of this thread to avoid confusion. (Unfortunately I can't edit the posting that includes the old title of the article, which links to the knowledgebase.)
