I can't believe it! It can't be a coincidence. Please say that you too remember those wonderful winter days - the pratfalls in the snow in the mornings, and the cocktails and 70s disco music in the evenings! If so, it would, of course, be my greatest pleasure to work with your agency. Kindly illuminate me on the nature of the job in question, and we'll go froim there. Thanks and best regards! Pavle SLS Language Translation wrote: Hi Mr. Pavle, Thanks for your nice mail. But i am not that Thomson but i know him, he is living in Australia now. Mainly thanks for your interest in taking up this job. I have a 4 pages document for translation from Slovenia to English. I need it by tomorrow ASAP. I am attaching herewith the document to be translated. pls find the attachment enclosed. Kindly confirm the same. Regards, Thomson On 11/5/07, Pavle Perencevic wrote: Wow! I am totally amazed. So, you're not the Thomson translation project manager from Buckinghamshire whom I met in Gstadt two years ago, but your name is also Thomson and you are also a translation project manager from Buckinghamshire - and you even happen to know this other Thompson guy, who now lives in Australia Wow! This stuff is just mind blowing. Do you happen to have the other Thomson's email address so I can get in touch with him and his lovely wife - I think her name was Gertrude, but we all called her Fifi? If you don't feel comfortable giving me his email, please give him the best wishes from me and mine, ok! Thanks! SLS Language Translation wrote: Ya sure i wil surely say your regards to him. At presently i dont have his email id. Ya he is a nice man like YOU. Your mail is so sweet. Shall we talk about the translation work now? Pls confirm the reciept of the document & let me know when can i expect the file? Thomson I have some bad news. I can't ski, I've never been to Gstadt, and I have definitely never met any project manager called Thomson who had a wife named Gertrude, who everybody referred to as "Fifi". Now, I would do this translation for free if only you could give me a satisfactory explanation of the following: how is it possible for you to know this non-existent fictitious Thomson character that I made up just now on the spur of the moment and why did you tell me that he lives in Australia and that you would give him my regards although you know as well as I do that he does not exist? I would also need satisfactory answers to the following questions: How come your phone number is invalid? How come you're using a gmail address? How come your address is incomplete? How come you don't use your first name? How come there are no references to your translation agency on the Internet? How come your English sucks, but your name is "Thomson" and you live in Buckinghamshire? I know - too many questions. ▲ Collapse | | | Ken Cox Local time: 15:50 German to English + ... and where do you find Buckinghamshire, Texas... | Nov 5, 2007 |

Zip 78748 is for Austin, TX, which of course may be easily determined. Instead of ranting about messages of this sort, maybe we should consider them to be an opportunity to have some fun! I've never done it, but I have been tempted.
And the IP is from Bangalore, Karnataka, India:)

...for us, although I don't think whoever this guy (or woman) is was fazed for a moment by you calling him on his scam. He simply moved on to the next potential victim. Still, very funny. | | | Jan Willem van Dormolen (X) Netherlands Local time: 15:50 English to Dutch + ...
I recently was approached by the same guy (gal?) too. I wrote a reply with my rates, never heard of him again. A solution for those among us who aren't so creative.
Thank you so much for this nice story!!

Funny, I received exactly the same message, I guess about 70,000 words from English into Portuguese. One spam-flagger I use when bulk-deleting trash from my web site's webmail is people who introduce themselves as "Mr." or "Dr.". I hope to have never got drunk enough to introduce myself in speech or in writing by saying: "I'm Mr. Lamensdorf."
