Hi, I am translating a document in OmegaT 4.3.2. When I opened up the target document within OmegaT, I saw that some sections that I had already translated into Spanish nevertheless were still in English. As a result, I quit Word and then reloaded the project to see if that would fix the problem. After doing that, however, the segmentation of the whole project got screwed up. When I opened up the target document within OmegaT, I saw that some sections that I had already translated into Spanish nevertheless were still in English. As a result, I quit Word and then reloaded the project to see if that would fix the problem. After doing that, however, the segmentation of the whole project got screwed up. It looks like the document is now segmented by paragraph instead of sentence. When I go into properties, "Enable sentence-level segmenting" is checked. The only other thing I had done prior to that was add a rule under "Project specific segmentation set-up" to make sure that OmegaT did not segment after the abbreviation "Dept.". I'm pretty sure, though, that the segmentation screw-up happened after that, when I reloaded the project. Is there any way to fix the segmentation without splitting every single sentence in each paragraph individually? If I delete the source file and then put in back in, would that possibly solve the problem? I tried exiting out of and then reopening OmegaT several times and that didn't work; I also rebooted my computer just in case, but that didn't solve the problem either. Thanks! ▲ Collapse | | | esperantisto Local time: 20:26 Člen (2006) angličtina -> ruština + ... SITE LOCALIZER Are you sure… | Jul 30, 2021 |
…that the only thing was adding a rule? Then, what exactly was the rule you added? > If I delete the source file and then put in back in, would that possibly solve the problem? Unlikely, if the problem is really about rules. Try deleting the project’s segmentation.conf, i. e. the one in /omegat of your project, (back up first) to reset your segmentation rules. | | | Nina Halperin Peru Local time: 12:26 španělština -> angličtina + ... Hi esperantisto, Thank you so much for your reply. I had ended up splitting up the segments by hand the night before you replied, but this information could be useful in the future if something similar happens again. I believe the rule I had added was "Dept\. \s". I don't think the problem was about rules, as you said. If I recall correctly, the segmentation problem did not occur immediately after I implemented this rule, but rather a little bit later when I reloaded the project. I found the file segmentation.conf you were talking about. When you say "back up first," do you mean back up the project first or back up the segmentation.conf file first before deleting it? Then if deleting the segmentation.conf file didn't work, are you saying I could just paste that file back into the OmegaT folder? Thanks again for your help. ▲ Collapse | | | esperantisto Local time: 20:26 Člen (2006) angličtina -> ruština + ... SITE LOCALIZER segmentation.conf | Aug 3, 2021 |
I mean backing up segmentation.conf for this particular case in order to, yes, restore it from the backup copy. Of course, backing up the whole project would be fine, too. | |
